Kinesio Tape for Leg Lymphedema

Postby Darlene » Fri Nov 03, 2006 4:02 pm

Has anyone had success with using Kinesio Tape for foot and lower leg lymphedema? My MLD has not been very successful in spite of bandaging and exercising. Many thanks.

Hiya Darlene

I do apologise for missing your posting

I have and still do use kinesio on my legs from knee to groin combined with knee hi jobst supports.
Also on my left arm and my shoulders

On my legs i have it seems less pain when i walk
it has stopped the hard ball of inner knee appearing the swelling
in my experience changes very little but the softeness of your tissue
is brilliant and I find i do not swell using kinesio

my arm i have lymph carpol tunnelling and the relief from pain is almost instant

my shoulders are well improved to havent been doing them long enough
to speak about anything but pain releif

I was shown how to put it on by my therapist
a couple of times i messed up but once i got the hang of it it is very easy

but as for reduction I find MLD wrapping and hose the best for my lymph
and the reduction is there for me to see from overnight

MLD is usually successful

what has your therapist said?

Do you practice it every night?
so many i know do once oe twice a week

Hugsssssssssss

Thanks, Silkie. Yes, I have been faithful to my MLD and bandaging but results are very slow this time. I have been going 2 days a week for about 7 weeks. I am going to take a medical leave from work and go 4 times a week for 4 weeks straight and see if that works.

My swelling now is mostly in foot, toes, and ankle. Something new for me at this much of an increase. Wonder if the Kinesio tape will help with the foot swelling?

Hi Darlene

Never used on my feet but i know the Mums in children do on the toes of the children

and have good results like me some of the children have used a while then get reaction to the adhesive

but most are happy with it

I really would advise you to speak to your therapist

I think maybe you need to be doing every night the mld

doing yourself when your not seeing the therapist

Also i moved up a grade in my supports as the lower grade were not firm enough to support my legs. it helped a lot

we produce fluid each day and if our bodies can't remove it by themselves we need to get rid of it

I have a difference in size from talking my wraps off and having a shower

talk to you therapist about your legs not resonding Darlene she knows your history too

hugggggggggggggggg
