Insurance company said I've used up all my therapy for LE

Postby BarbaraBinBrooklyn » Tue Dec 05, 2006 11:49 am

Seems I've used up all 60 allowable visits (lifetime). I've written to grievance committee and they will not pay for any more visits, nor will they pay out-of-network. Since this determination, I was hospitalized in September for cellulitis (Prior to that, I treated it at home with oral antibiotics). Any suggestions??? I was thinking about getting supplementary insurance. Will probably apply for disability in a few months. Just lost job and will be collecting unemployment benefits for a while. Thanks, BarbaraBinBrooklyn

A BIG WELCOME TO OUR BOARDS BARBARA!!!! Glad you found us
Sorry you have had problems with your insurance company. I wish I could offer you useful information to get your insurance company to pay; however, before I went on disability I worked for a big insurance company and I too have an HMO policy that only pays for one set of visits a lifetime. As we all know, we need to go back for treatments from time to time and the visits are very expensive. What you can do is write to your Senator and let them know what is going on and ask that the laws regarding coverage be changed for all. If you look on this site you will see a letter you can copy and paste to send out to your Senator. But in the meantime until you get a policy that at least pays once a year, you will need to do your MLD faithfully every day and keep up with any infections you have. Good luck to you and feel free to ask anything you want and please share your story and tips with us. Hugs to you!!
