Hi, everyone. It has been awhile since I have been here. I hope all is well. I am writting today because of a problem. I live in Pittsburgh, Pa. and I have health insurance thru UPMC and so does my brother who also has Lymphedma in his lower legs. Our problem that now UPMC is now following Medicar guidelines for the copmression garments. They will only pay for a certain type of lower leg compression garment. The ones me and me and my brother need are not covered. I was told the cost about $135 or so dollars for the pair. I personally can not afford to buy them every month. I am mad because I need them and I pay $56 dollars every two weeks for insurance and I think it is messed up. Has anyone or is anyone going thru this with their insurance provider. Does anyone have any suggestions. I sm open to any and all ideas. I an thinking of starting petition to change that. It is important because it can disable and kill people. I feel that I have to do something.

Hi Monica

Read thru this:

GROUNDBREAKING MEDICARE APPEALS COUNCIL DECISION COMPRESSION GARMENTS USED IN LYMPHEDEMA TREATMENT
MEET MEDICARE DEFINITION OF PROSTHETIC DEVICES

http://www.lymphedemapeople.com/phpBB1/ ... php?t=1290

then - appeal - appeal - appeal.

Also, contact Bob Weiss

LymphActivist@aol.com

and let him know what's happening and he will help walk you thru the process.

It says "Page Not Found".

Does someone have more recent info. on this?

Thanks--
